Frequently asked questions

What time should I get on the field?

Arrive early.  If this is your first time to Grandfather Mountain then you need to get to the field early to find a great location to watch your dancer, your friends, and others.  There are 3 dance stages so position yourself well to see it all!

Can I set up a tent?

Unfortunately no tent in the viewing area.  But you can set up a tent in the first grove.  You will not be able to see the dancing or hear our announcements so you will have to keep close attention to times. Make sure you do not block access for others. 

Should I bring chairs?

Absolutely bring chairs and regular sun umbrellas.  The viewing area is tiered and allows for the person umbrellas.  

What's the weather?

The weather on the mountain can change many times through out the day.  Bring something for rain, cold, and sun.  The sun on the mountain can be intense and catch people off guard.  Wear sunscreen!  

What are the details for the Dancers shuttle?

Address is 4235 Mitchell Ave, Linville, NC 28646. This is the Post Office address.  Parking is marked with signage in the grassy fields.  Please display the "Linville" car tag in your window.  

All riders MUST have a shuttle wrist band.

Shuttle Times:
Friday       7:00am - 11:30am    1pm-4pm
Saturday   6:45am - 11:30am    1pm-5pm
Sunday     7:00am - 11:30am    1pm-4pm

What if it rains?

We dance rain or shine.  The platforms are covered.  Rarely is the competition moved off the field.  If that could be the case we will email blast, text dance teachers, and make an annoucnement on this web site with details.  

Where are the changing tents?

The changing tents are located in the grove behind the SCOT tent.  

Is there dancer only port-a-potty?

Yes.  It is located behing the SCOT tent.  Get the key from someone at the SCOT tent and make sure you lock it behind you and return the key.
